As of 04/20/2024 - Medical Marijuana in North Carolina still remains illegal under North Carolina State and Federal Law.
It is only legal if you have a Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian Enrollment Card which you will need to get a Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian medical cannabis patient card.
Having a medical cannabis patient card means that under Tribal law you may lawfully purchase medical cannabis products from dispensary locations on Tribal lands that are licensed by the CCB. The card also means you may, under Tribal law, possess and consume medical cannabis. In other words, you will not be prosecuted by the EBCI Tribal government for possession of medical cannabis so long as you are possessing it in accordance with Tribal law. Please remember, however, that the possession and use of cannabis is still illegal under Federal law and North Carolina state law. A medical cannabis patient card does not prevent or act as a defense to prosecution by the Federal or State government law enforcement authorities.
